Ujjivan Small Finance Bank reaches out to victims in Assam
Bangalore, September 3, 2019: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank reached out to nearly 5000 flood victims in Assam. The Bank recently organised a health check-up camp for flood affected people residing near Bamakhata School, Pathshala, Assam. More than 150 people were diagnosed with ailments that required immediate attention. The camp carried out doctor consultations along with medicine distribution in the flood affected area and its vicinity.
Recently, Assam has been one of the worst flood hit state of the country. Over 4,000 villages in 28 districts out of the state's 33 have been affected killing more than 69 people. 90% of the landmass of Kaziranga National Park got submerged under the floods killing more than 200 animals.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr Samit Ghosh, MD & CEO, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank said, “Ujjivan SFB recognises the distress witnessed in Assam due to the floods and stands with the people of the state. Through the health camp we wish to address immediate concerns of the people towards facilitating their rehabilitation.”
Understanding the severity of the situation, Ujjivan SFB plans to organize more such health camps in Nalbari, Azara and Halo towns of Assam.
