Ujjivan has created an exclusive thematic area – Environment and Animal welfare to execute resource conservation projects. We’ve also executed projects on the well-being of the animals. Our efforts under this thematic area includes:
Resource conservation Projects:
Ujjivan in association with United Way of Bengaluru has undertaken water conservation project to rejuvenate the Kanekallu Lake at Hoskote. The project, being an ongoing one, spread across 2 FYs, is in progress and estimated to be completed by the end of FY 25-26. Additionally, in collaboration with Kovai Kulangal Pudhipippu Amaippu, Ujjivan has successfully restored a pond in Arisipalayam in Tamil Nadu & a lake at Bavda, Satara, Maharashtra.
Project Swachh Neighbourhood:
At Ujjivan, we firmly believe that charity begins at home. Guided by this belief, we launched our initiatives in support of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, starting with efforts to clean our immediate surroundings.
The project began as a pilot cleanliness campaign around our Koramangala branch in Bengaluru, and gradually expanded during FY 2019–20 to multiple locations under the banner of ‘The Swachh Neighbourhood Project’. Employees and local communities came together to clean a 100-metre radius around office premises, with the goal of creating a sustainable model by educating residents on maintaining cleanliness in their neighbourhoods.
In FY 2024–25, this initiative reached 250+ locations across India, creating a meaningful platform for employee volunteering. Over 7,000 employees participated, contributing 14,560+ volunteering hours, and planted 6,000+ saplings as part of the activity.
Animal Welfare:
Under animal welfare, animal shelters coupled with solar power electrification were constructed at Coimbatore and cattle sheds at a Goshala at Goghariyan, Haryana benefitting about 300 cattle.
